12.17.07 Selah Later

Can you find your pause button?

Our schedules, our phones, our iPods our DVRs are always on. Day after day we press play. Yet as 2007 draws to a close, we look for that brief moment to ponder and to look back. The ancient Hebrews had a word for this, it was Selah. Usually found after a profound word, the ancients saw a benefit in pausing, in reflection.

So too do we.

This week as CitizenU draws close to another year, we would like to pause and reflect back. Here are our profound words from 2007:

SURGE. [Surprised?]

SENATE STATESMAN. [Our next President, a Senator?]

SUB-PRIME. [No place like home . . . despite being worth less?]

STRIKE. [More reality, less entertainment?]

STEROIDS. [Say it ain’t so?]

After looking back, we enthusiastically look forward. What big stories do we anticipate in 2008?

NEW PRESIDENT. [City upon a Hillary?]

NEW MIDEAST CHALLENGES. [Peace or Pieces?]

NEW LOOK FOR CHINA. [Olympic Gold?]

NEW POSSIBILITIES FOR U.

Although there is great benefit in pausing and looking back, America has always been more interested with its future. Ralph Waldo Emerson called this a land “of tomorrows.”

CitizenU is recommitting itself to do even more this next year to help educate America’s citizenry. We hope to continue to make the complex - simple, to make the confusing - clear. We have in the past and will continue in the future to give you the tools to be 21st century citizens.

Join us.

Selah . . . Later.
