8/25: The Crawford Bunch

A.C.: Cindy Sheehan is back in Crawford, TX. The Anti-War movement is gaining serious steam and financial backing from Liberal groups because of her involvement.

D.L.: Media coverage will disappear as soon as W comes back to DC.

N.H.: The story doesn't have legs...what's the new angle? We'll know it's really over as soon as Michael Moore joins her.

A.C.: But there's a significant possibility that other mothers of fallen soldiers will join her cause. That will give a major boost to the momentum of the movement.

D.L.: Cindy Sheehan is more similar to Jan Brady rather than either Cindy or Marcia Brady. Sheehan's a follower, seeking attention, unsure of herself but wanting to make a difference.

A.C.: Who is the Marcia of the Anti-War movement?

D.L.: The mothers who deal with the tragedy of war by not becoming victims.

A.C.: Acknowledges that the conversation seems heartless, but then notes that Marcia did go to the dance after breaking her nose instead of protesting outside of the Wilson football headquaters.

A.C.: When will Hillary become the Cindy Brady of the Anti-War movement?

D.L.: W is Bobby Brady who tries to resolve his problems through irrational acts.

J.B.: Always trying to hangout with the bigger boys. A pretender.

Misc. Discussion: Other pretenders...Tucker Carlson of MSNBC, Chrissy Hynde, John Hughes (after Home Alone.)

Did Sheehan ever think, that her son being a soldier could get killed in case of a war. He did his duty! What did they expect? It's the army, you go there knowing that in case of war you will get sent there and potentially killed.

I wonder what her son would think...

moot point, though. It's like wondering what H.W. thinks of his son. We'll never REALLY know.

I’m sure it has been hard on her the entire time; my guess is that she was against her son joining the army in the first place. Since he did and then was killed what is she supposed to do? She lost a son, and I can understand why she’s upset. It’s obvious that protesting wont get her son back but It could potentially save the lives of others by raising awareness.

I wouldn't say Sheehan is a victim or a follower. She's been a prominent player in the anti war movement from the beginning. The fact that her son is a fallen soldior gives her a certain credibility but it was not her main motivation. She seems very savy. She understands that the media isn't going to be focusing on her for much longer, so she's taking advantage of the time she has. Of course she wants attention- isn't that what every movement wants, a moment in the public eye to push their agenda? You might not agree with her position (and I don't) but you have to admit she's being smart about it.
